I am getting a license error, what do I do?

Q: What causes license errors?

A: License errors are most typically caused by moving an Open-Realty site to a new location after its license has already been installed and activated. A "new location" means a new domain name, IP address, or the physical location (folder) of the files where OR was initially installed have been changed or renamed. This can sometimes be caused by your host without your knowledge as a part of a server upgrade or other updates/changes to their services. License errors can also be caused if your site can not make outbound connections to the Internet on ports 80 and 443 (HTTP and HTTPS) to reach the license server.

If you are running Open-Realty Free edition and you remove the {powered_by_tag} from your active template, you may also receive a license error.

Q: I moved my site, how do I reset my license so it will work from this new location?

A: You can reissue (or view the status of) your license by completing the steps below.

1. Login to your client area at Transparent Technologies.

2. Click the "Services" menu link near the top of the page, and select the "My Services" option..

3. Locate the software for which you wish to reissue the license, and click on its "View Details" button on the right.

4. Click the "Reissue License Button"

5. Login to your Open-Realty admin area as the 'admin' user.

6. Click the Site Config menu link.

7. Click the "View/Change License Key" link found in the License Information area.

8. Save your license key.

Q: I tried the steps above, and I am having other problems with activating my license, what do I do?

A: Make sure your hosting meets all of OR's server requirements, specifically the part about outbound HTTP/HTTPS connections on ports 80 and 443. If you are unsure, ask your hosting provider to review.
